The mortar between the chimney brickwork will, over time, crack and crumble due to weather erosion.

If neglected, the bricks can become and stable and the possibility of it falling becomes apparent. Apart from the damage it may cause to the roof, anything or anyone below it is at risk. So a small re-pointing job can stabilise the chimney and chimney pots.

We can inspect the chimney and advise on any issues that may be of concern.

We carry out roof verge repairs and install new dry verge roofing systems.

As you can see from the image, verge repairs are needed.

The mortar, over a period of time, needs cleaning out and replacing with new mortar to stabilise and lock in the edges of the tiles.

The weather takes its toll on the roof, and as the elements affect the mortar. Birds and other things may take advantage of the crumbling mortar and make a bigger space for nesting in. Unfortunately, this also allows for water ingress and other insects which may not be beneficial to the roof space and can cause numerous problems.

We carry out ridge repairs and re-bed the ridge tiles.

Mortar based fixed ridge tiles will require maintenance due to the changeable weather and wear and tear.

The mortar between the ridge tiles becomes cracked and crumbles with the adverse weather conditions and the natural movement of the property. Re-bedding the ridge tiles ensures their stability for longer and is well worth having them maintained to prevent water accessing the roof space.

We also install dry ridge systems which are more beneficial and have many advantages over the mortar based fixings.
